| Over twelve years ago a program was presented to several of us at the Red Ridge United Methodist Church that would provide much needed food to the elderly on low income. For $60 an elderly person on low income would be provided with two bags (hence the name Brown Bag Program) of food each month for the entire year. The food is of good quality, consisting of canned, fresh, and frozen items provided by the East Alabama Food Bank in Auburn. The two bags would have a retail value of over $30. The Red Ridge Church thought the program would be a great mission effort and agreed to be the focal point and distribution center for the program. We agreed to support the program and to ask for additional support from the Stillwater's Community and surrounding lake area. The community response has been tremendous and we are continuing to provide food once a month to almost 100 families who need it! We are into our campaign to fund this program for 2009. We need your help and support once again. Churches and individuals have contributed and made this possible. The food is brought by truck on the third Friday of each month. We unload the truck into the Red Ridge Church around 8:30 a.m. and then distribute the food to those who qualify until around 10:30 a.m. You are welcome to participate in the actual unloading and delivery of the food....just show up on the third Friday of any month. |
| Your check should be made payable to East Alabama Food Bank or E.A.F.B. and in the memo section of the check, mark it Red Ridge Brown Bag Program. You may mail your check directly to E.A.F.B., 375 Industry Drive, Auburn, AL 36832 or place it in the offering plate. |
